UNIVERSITY OF THE AEGEAN
The University of the Aegean project involves the restoration of the former Gendarmerie School, located outside the walls of the Medieval City in Rhodes. This historic site now houses the School of Humanities, which includes three departments: Primary Education, Preschool Education and Educational Planning, and Mediterranean Studies. The building, known as “7th March”, honors the historic day of the Dodecanese’s integration into Greece. The three-story structure spans approximately 4,250 m². The restoration maintains the building’s historical integrity while modernizing it for educational use. The design incorporates classrooms, laboratories, faculty offices, and soundproof areas, along with enhanced facilities for accessibility.
JEPA played a crucial role in the detailed design and engineering of MEP installations, ensuring that all systems meet high standards of safety, efficiency, and functionality. The project exemplifies a commitment to preserving cultural heritage while providing a conducive environment for contemporary education.
