OLYMPIC INDOOR SPORTS CENTER IN THE OLYMPIC ATHLETIC CENTER OF ATHENS “SPIROS LOUIS”
The OAKA Sports Center, located in Kalogreza, Athens, serves as a premier venue for sporting events, particularly basketball. This project involved the construction of the Indoor Basketball Stadium, featuring six levels, a seating capacity of 18,500 (including 2,000 retractable seats), and accommodations for 300 journalists. The stadium is designed for efficient evacuation in just 10 minutes. The main hall measures 40m x 70m, with a hardwood basketball court sized at 28.2m x 15m. The facility includes four electronic scoreboards—two for scoring, one for statistics, and one for video production—enhancing the spectator experience. The center includes 54 entrances for spectators, two gyms measuring 19m x 9m, a medical room, a doping control room, and 12 locker room complexes equipped with showers and toilets.
Additionally, the media center features a main room of 500m², a 100m² conference room, and two offices. There are 18 concession stands, along with dedicated accesses for officials and journalists. The venue is outfitted with an electronic closed-circuit television system and six dark rooms. Accessibility for individuals with disabilities is ensured at all entrances of the middle tier, and the center provides parking facilities for 750 vehicles, including 40 VIP spaces.
