ACROPOLIS MUSEUM
The New Acropolis Museum, completed in 2009, is a striking architectural achievement located at the foot of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. The museum spans approximately 25,000 m² and features a unique blend of modern design and ancient heritage, providing a fitting home for the remarkable artifacts of the Acropolis. The museum houses a vast collection of classical Greek antiquities, with 14,000 square meters of exhibition space dedicated to displaying sculptures, pottery, and significant historical artifacts in a way that enhances the visitor experience and contextualizes the significance of these treasures. The innovative design incorporates a glass-floored entrance that allows visitors to view the archaeological excavations below, celebrating the site’s rich history.
In addition to its exhibition areas, the New Acropolis Museum includes a café, a museum shop, and a spacious outdoor terrace that offers breathtaking views of the Acropolis and the surrounding landscape. The design also emphasizes sustainability and energy efficiency, utilizing natural light and environmentally responsible materials to create a harmonious connection between the museum and its iconic backdrop. JEPA was involved in the detailed design and engineering of the MEP installations, ensuring the integration of advanced systems that meet the highest standards of climate control, security, and operational efficiency.
